On the 18th of September Calligaris marks an important step opening its own Museum. A first and important stage that will lead to the company’s centenary celebrations.

The Museum is developed through a large exhibition area of about 300 square meters, inside the head quarter located in Manzano, dedicated to the history of the company but also to the history of the chair district area.

The exhibition offers the opportunity to immerse and admire the history of the district: from the birth to its evolution up to the national and international affirmation of the Calligaris brand, among the Made in Italy design leading companies.

The Museum is organized in seven paths, starting from the origins in 1700 up until today.
Calligaris was born in 1923 in Manzano, as a small artisan laboratory founded by Antonio Calligaris, for the production of the Marocca chair, characterized by a wooden structure and a straw seat, typical artifact of the area.
Between the '50s and '70s, the economic boom coincided with the modernization of the business of the Calligaris family: the company passed to the third generation, being transformed into a well-structured industrial reality, becoming leader of a geographical area worldwide known as the "chair district" and, at the same time, starting the conquest of other markets.
In the 1990s, the district became aware of the importance of self-promotion, as well as national and global distribution. The Friulian chair expanded into the Italian market and abroad, covering about 80% of the national demand, with a massive presence in Europe, USA, and East.

Calligaris, today, after almost 100 years, is going on experimenting and offering complete furnishing solutions: chairs, tables and complements. Wood is no longer the only material on which the company is looking for innovation, but also metal, plastic, leather and glass become the protagonists of the collections.
